ABOUT BARTLETT–MCWEENEY COMMUNICATIONS LTD.
Bartlett-McWeeney Communications, Ltd., (BMC) is the product of two visionary entrepreneurs, who in October 2004, pooled their talents to create a broadcast media company with vision.
Thus the GEMS New Media Network was born, starting off in a small office front with five employees. After four years, the station has grown to some 50 full time employees both in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos.
Bartlett-McWeeney Communications, LTD., (BMC) is co-owned by Cyprianna McWeeney, CEO GEMS Radio, Public Relations, Publishing and Finance; and Deborah Bartlett, CEO GEMS Radio, Television and Production. BMC is a registered company in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
GEMS 105.9 FM began broadcasting October 2006, officially launching on January 3rd, 2007, heralding the mission of “Strengthening Our Women and Uplifting Our Men”. Our global vision for this multimedia network is to raise the standard of broadcasting through innovation and motivation.
GEMS Radio – Great Entertainment and Motivational Sounds – is a subsidiary of Bartlett-McWeeney Communications, Ltd and part of the GEMS New Media Network. Other subsidiaries include GEMS Television, Public Relations, Publishing and Online Services. It is the first multimedia establishment in the Bahamas providing e-commerce services.
We at GEMS strive to bring our audience excellence in programming, music, entertainment and news. Our genre of music is easy listening, free of offensive and derogatory lyrics. Therefore, our listening audiences can rest assured that while, not a religious station, GEMS 105.9 FM provides inspiration and hope through our discussions and music twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
We are proud to announce that GEMS 105.9 has covered several major live international events in the United States and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The events include the 44th United States Presidential Inauguration of President Barack Obama; The United States 2008 Democratic National Convention; The United States 2008 Republican National Convention; Martin Luther King Day in Atlanta, Georgia; The Trumpet Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada; the 2007 General Election in the Turks and Caicos Islands; and the 75th birthday celebrations of Ambassador Andrew Young whose special guests included former President Bill Clinton and Maya Angelou.
The GEMS family also made history when the multimedia company formalized its affiliate relationship with the Sheridan Broadcasting & American Urban Radio Networks. The relationship authorizes GEMS News anchors and reporters to file reports on the network to the combined listening audience of 30 million listeners, as well as receive reports from the networks.
